SOLO - MEGA

Robie Porter's US label Mega Records saw major potential in Chris and signed him in 1990 along with guitar virtuoso, Tommy Emmanuel and female singer, Laurin James. Robie had produced several number one records around the world for artitsts such as Rick Springfield, Air Supply, Daddy Cool, Marcia Hines, Colleen Hewett and Hush. His first project with Chris was to record a duet version of the Dan Hill/B Mann song "Sometimes When We Touch" with Laurin James. It sold very well and was picked up by Ray "Rabs" Warren as the end song to his daily talk-back radio programme. They performed the song on television shows such as Midday with Ray Martin and Ernie & Denise. The second track on the CD was "One of a Kind" written by Chris and long-time friend, Idris Jones of "The Mixtures". The next single Robie produced for Chris was "Driving Me Crazy" a big ballad written by David Minasian and Randy Bishop, Chris' partners in the American band Plan B. Chris performed this on Good Morning Australia while in Melbourne for his stint on the television soap "Neighbours". During this time Chris also recorded the Brisbane Bronco's Rugby League Team theme song "Born To Win" written and produced by Gary McDonald and Laurie Stone. Chris performed this song and the national anthem for the club's games at Lang Park, Brisbane.
